PROFILE

Korean Mezzo-Soprano, Jungmi Kim received a diploma from the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and a diploma from the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome, summa cum laude.

She received awards from several international singing competitions, including special honors in Giacomo Lauri-Volpi, first prize in Alcamo, Italy, and won the second prize in the Geneva International Competition, Switzerland.

She has been an active performer, performing leading roles on prominent opera stages in Asia and Europe, and also has vast repertories in Oratorio from Baroque to Modern with prominent orchestras such as the Orchestra of the national Academy of Santa Cecilia, L’orchestre de Chambre de Geneve, Seoul Philharmonic, KBS Symphony, Korean Symphony, Taiwan Philharmonic and Macao Orchestra, and many others. Jungmi participated as the roles of La Muse and Nicklausse in Korea National Opera’s “Les Contes d’hoffmann”, conducted by Sebastian Lang-Lessing and directed by Vincent Boussard. She also recently performed in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 as the alto soloist with Asia Philharmonic under the baton of Myung-Whun Chung.
