Violinist Ju-Young Baek has performed at world’s renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. She also has performed with world’s leading orchestras such as the London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, among others. She has participated in the festivals of Marlboro, Ravinia, Aspen, and Salzburg. She is currently the leader of Ensemble Opus and was the leader of the Sejong Soloists. Winner of numerous prizes of prestigious competitions, Ms. Baek is a laureate of Indianapolis, Paganini, Sibelius, Long-Thibaud, and Queen Elisabeth International Competitions, to name a few. Her career was launched after winning 1st prize at YCA Auditions in New York City and the Astral Artists of Philadelphia. Ms. Baek released albums in Japan with Brahms and Bruch concerti to critical acclaim, followed by another solo violin repertoire album. Her recording of Penderecki and Szymanowski violin concerti with Royal Philharmonic, also received rave reviews in London. She has been on faculty at the College of Music, Seoul National University since 2005, where she was appointed as the youngest professor ever in history. She became the first Korean violinist who has recorded and released the complete set of Beethoven violin sonatas in 2020, which marked the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth. She also released the recording of the complete sonatas for solo violin by Ysaÿe in 2022. She has recently participated in Taiwan Music Academy & Festival and Ishikawa Music Festival. In addition, since 2024, she has been selected as a Larsen Strings Artist from Denmark, a world-renowned string manufacturer, and is receiving support from Larsen Strings.
