Cellist Yeonsun Joo is one of the most sought out solo and chamber cellist in Korea. Ms. Joo had served as the principal cellist of Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra 2008-2017 and had served as the associate principal cellist of the Kansas City Symphony 2005-2008.

As a soloist Ms. Joo has performed with numerous orchestras such as the Philadelphia Orchestra, the KBS Orchestra, the Seoul Philharmonic etc. Ms. Joo has been featured on live radio and television broadcasts with the MBC-TV, the KBS-TV’, the KBS-FM, Houston Public Radio etc.

As her first solo recording, she recorded complete Bach cello suites, released by SONY and she gave a recital playing all 6 Bach suites at Seoul Arts Center in 2016.

As a recitalist and chamber musician, Ms. Joo has appeared in concert halls such as the Seoul Arts Center, the Sydney Opera House, the Lincoln Center and the Carnegie hall. In great demand as a chamber musician, Ms. Joo has collaborated with world renowned artists as Kim Kashkashian, Itzhak Perlman, Lorin Maazel etc.

Ms. Joo is a member of chamber groups, Cellista Cello Ensemble and Quartet Knecht. Cellista Cello ensemble, with 12 cellists, made Korea National tour concerts with Cellist Jian Wang in 2016. Quartet Knecht has gathered recognition by releasing their first Haydn album by SONY, and their second album ‘Death and the Maiden’.

Yeonsun Joo has been appointed as Professor of Cello at Chung-Ang University and teaching Cello since 2017.
