Conductor SungZin Kim began his full-scale music education in the composition department of Korea National University of Arts Preparatory School, graduated from the piano department of Seoul Arts High School, and studied choral conducting at Yonsei University College of Music. To study the wider world of music, he entered the Department of Orchestra Conduct at the Hans Eisler National University of Music in Berlin, Germany, and studied with Christian Ewald, a renowned German professor, and was praised for showing the most aesthetic conduction. As a student, he was selected by Jörg-Peter Weigle, a professor at the Berlin National University of Music and conductor of Philharmonic Choir Berlin, and worked as the choir’s official pianist for four years, studying opera work with Alexander Vitlin, the principal opera coach of the Berlin Staatsoper. After completing his studies in Germany with the highest grades, he became interested in American music culture and worked as a guest conductor and pianist in the Orchestra Iowa and Cedar Raffies Opera.
He conducted the Brandenburg Orchestra, Zafraan Ensemble, Orchestra Iowa, UI Chamber Orchestra, Cedar Rapids Opera, Korean Symphony, Bucheon Philharmonic, Seongnam Philharmonic Orchestra, Chungnam Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata Antiqua Seoul, Daegu City Symphony Orchestra, Daegu Opera House Orchestra, Ditto Orchestra, and the 2019 opening work of Art Center Incheon.
He successfully completed his debut at the Seoul Arts Center in 2020 and continues to work in various fields as a summer concert commentator and pianist at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. Since 2019, he has started his career in Korea as a conductor of the Gimcheon Philharmonic Orchestra.
